The Cobalt Aquatics Duo-Filter UV 500 is a cutting-edge internal filter for aquariums up to 30 gallons. Equally capable in freshwater and marine environments, this sleek and affordable unit incorporates mechanical, biological, and ultraviolet filtration to maintain the cleanest and clearest water. It features a fully adjustable flow rate that maxes out at 130 gph, and includes a removable silenced venturi to dispense vital oxygen to your aquarium's inhabitants. The Duo's output is easily adjusted by turning the UV module (or its placeholding regulator dial), and its rotating nozzle allows you to aim the flow in the direction that best accomodates your setup. An optional flow diffuser is also included to help evenly disperse the output.
Stages of Filtration
Stage 1 (Mechanical/Biological) - The Duo's dual intake stems are wrapped with highly porous mechanical filter sponges. They extract free-floating debris and particulates from your aquarium water, and also provide an ideal cultivation site for beneficial nitrifying bacteria. A built-in intake screen prevents inordinately large debris from entering the filter.
Stage 2 (Ultraviolet) - Riding the cusp of innovation, the Duo-Filter is equipped with a 500mW LED UV Clarifier. It effectively eliminates free-floating algae, bacteria, and harmful microorganisms. The UV Clarifier can be plugged directly into a USB port and also includes an adapter for your standard electrical outlet (a translucent purple casing allows you to verify active UV operation). For applications not requiring UV, the clarifier module can be removed and replaced with the included flow regulator dial.
Installing the Duo-Filter is a breeze thanks to the included suction cup mounting bracket with universal hanger adapter (adapter expands to a maximum width of 1.8"). The bracket attaches to either the rear or side of the filter so you can choose the most appropriate orientation, and the filter itself is submersible to a maximum motor depth of 4". For quality assurance and peace of mind, the Cobalt Aquatics Duo-Filter UV 500 comes backed by a 3 year limited manufacturer's warranty.
